At the WKA Junior British Championships in May 2010, there were three rings and spectators milled round from one to another. One fight that brought the crowds saw a classy 17-year-old showboating his way to the title (in his own words, ‘being quite cocky with him because he kept smiling at me when I hit him!’). This was Ryan Coley, celebrating his 17th birthday by winning the 75kg WKA Muay Thai title.

Ryan Coley is one of the outstanding young talents of British Muay Thai and his coach Paul Sutton has been vocal in suggesting he is ready to mix it with the best. And Billionmore, as ever, is keen to help and publicise promising youngsters who have the skill and dedication to go to the top, as Ryan does. As well as looking to the future of Muay Thai, we feel it’s an honour to be associated with so many marvellous young sports stars.

Ryan has been fighting for less than four years and has specialised in Muay Thai, though he fought in other styles before he took up Thai boxing – and still does sometimes. The highlight of his career was winning the world crown in Huelva last year against a Swede whom he describes as 79kg and 6 feet 7 inches tall! Ryan weighed in at 74.2kg and stands a mere 5 feet 9!

However, that was not his hardest fight: the Swede had no defence against Ryan’s body kicks and was stopped by his smaller opponent. Much harder (and more painful) was meeting the moe experienced Garry Kewley on his home patch for the English Amateur title: 5 x 2 minutes of hard-fought confrontation, with Ryan coming out on top.
