PongSakLek GraTingDaeng Gym loses his WBC championship


On July 18th 2007, world-class boxing WBC took place at KoRukKuEn boxing stadium in Tokyo. This fight was between PongSakLek GraTingDaeng Gym(Thai Boxer), the WBC Flyweight champion and DaiSuKae NaiToh, the Japanese challenger.

In the 1st round PongSakLek waded into the challenger. He jabbed with his right to make opportunities to punch the left hand, but DaiSuKae used the right punch counter-attack to PongSakLek many times. In the 3rd round a right to the face from the Japanese challenger cut PongSakLek’s left eyelid. Then, PongSakLek changed his tactic. He tried to punch at DaiSuKae’s body, but the Japanese challenger was able to avoid his attack. At the end of the 4th round PongSakLek was still behind DaiSuKae with 37-39 / 37-39 / 38-38.

In the next round, PongSakLek tried to punch inside, but DaiSuKae used the longer arm punch to Thai champion and move back to the outside. Until the 8th round PongSakLek was still behind DaiSuKae with 75-77 / 76-77 / 76-76.

In the 9th round PongSakLek tried to attack DaiSuKae. He got a chance and threw many punches at Japanese boxer. DaiSuKae got a cut on the right eyebrow. However, PongSakLek looked so tired in the last minute. So that, DaiSuKae got a chance to fight back again.

In the rest time, PongSakLek increased the speed of his fighting and waded into the challenger, but DaiSuKae defended all-out and countered to the Thai champion. Finally, DaiSuKae won on points and became the new WBC flyweight champion. PongSakLek stopped his record of title defences only at 17 fights.
