Another visit to the World of Muay Ying

Billionmore (BM) interviews another trainer and his star Muay Ying to find out more about the world of female Muay Thai.  This time BM spoke to Anon, of Sor Saman Mit Camp, and his niece, Nong May.

BM:  At first, how many boxers did you have?

Anon: Around 7 persons.

BM:  And now?

Anon: Around 4 persons.

BM:  In the beginning were there any problems?

Anon:  With the budget to travel to Bangkok for fighting.

Anon:  I want to bring other Muay Ying to international standard.

BM:  About the boxers in this camp, how do they come to you?

Anon: From  village sports or they come with their cousins to practise.

BM:  Why do you want to build up the Muay Ying?

Anon:  I have male boxers (junior), too.

BM:  What is the daily life’s schedule of boxers?

Anon:  4.00-5.00 p.m.  running about 12-14 kms.

                                     Skipping for 30 minutes.

                                      Bringing up the knee against a person and kicking sand bag 

                                      For 500 times.

BM:  Are females interested in Thai boxing?

Anon:  Nowadays the interest is quite good.

BM:  Where are the arenas for fighting?

Anon:  Modern Nine Channel, Assawindum Fight, and up country arenas.

BM:  Do you have any support from the Government?

Anon:  From Dr. Sawes  Klinsinchai.

BM:  How often do boxers have to go onto the stages?

Anon:  Every three months.

BM:  How do you know which female has a gift?

Anon:  Such as Nong May, she won first time thanks to her talent, so she decided to be a Muay Ying.

BM:  Who is the dominant female boxer in your camp?

Anon:  Nong May.

BM:  Who is her teacher?

Anon:  Her teacher is her father named Narongdej.

BM:  If there are foreigners interested in female boxing, are they welcome?

Anon:  There are no fee because you have to eat and stay by yourself.

BM:  What are the differences between a male boxer and Muay Ying?

Anon:  It is the same.

BM:  What are the female costumes?                                    

Anon:  The female has to wear bra and vest.

BM:  Have you ever promoted your camp in any way?

Anon:  Yes, I have to promote the boxers by books, pamphlets such as, Muay Siam, Daily Boxing Champions.

     Nong May is Muay Ying who  today, who today has practised with  SorSaman Mit Camp.                                                                           

BM.  When was the beginning of your Muay Ying life?

Nong May:  About 13 years old.

BM:  Do you like boxing?

Nong May:  My uncle brought me to fight, and I liked it.

BM:  How many years have you practised  Muay Ying?

Nong May:  Three years.

BM:  What is the obstacle to being Muay Ying?

Nong May:  When the examinations are on in school, I can’t control the time well.

BM:  What is your dream for Muay Ying?

Nong May:  I want to go to the Olympics.

BM:  What is the benefit of being Muay Ying?

Nong May: It makes you strong and healthy.

BM:  What level are you fighting to?

Nong May:   I want to be a champion because I like the way boxers fight.

BM:  Before you practised in this camp, did you have another camp?

Nong May:  No, this is the first camp for me.

BM:  For fighting, do you have some Nickname?

Nong May:  Yes, such as Suay Antarai (Beautiful Danger), Nong May Sor Saman Mit.

Duang Duen:  About 8 years old.

BM:  Do you like boxing?

Duang Duen:  My father brought me to fight, and I liked it.

BM:  How many years have you practised  Muay Ying?

Duang Duen:  Two years.

BM:  What is the obstacle to being Muay Ying?

Duang Duen:  No obstacle for me but when there are an examination, I will decrease the drills.

BM:  What is your dream for Muay Ying?

Duang Duen:  I want to go to the World championship.

BM:  What is the benefit of being Muay Ying?

Duang Duen: It makes you strong and healthy.
